Riccardo Cecchetti

Pianist and forte-pianist Riccardo Cecchetti, is the founding member of various chamber music groups including Voces Intimae piano trio, which has played all over the world.

After receiving his degree, cum laude, at the Florence Conservatory, he began an intense concert career. He has performed regularly at the most important concert halls of the world – such as Carnegie Hall and Frick Collection in New York, Library of Congress in Washington D.C., Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall and St. John’s Smith Square in London, Musik Halle in Hamburg, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, The Curtis Institute of Philadelphia, Vredenburg in Utrecht and prestigious Festivals and Associations such as the Festival dei due Mondi – Spoleto, Italy, the Festival van Vlaanderen and Festival Oude Muziek in Benelux, Festival Granada, Spain, Melbourne Festival, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Amici della Musica in Perugia, Amici della Musica in Florence, Unione Musicale of Turin, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti in Rome and many others.

Riccardo Cecchetti plays both period and modern pianos, stressing special emphasis on chamber and solo classical and early romantic repertoire played on period instruments. His repertoire ranges from 18th century music to contemporary music. BBC-Radio3, RAI-Radio3, Radio France, Radio Clásica – España have broadcast his concerts.

As a member of piano trio Voces Intimae, he has an exclusive recording contract with Challenge Records. Challenge Records published a fortepiano solo CD dedicated to C.P.E. Bach’s music in 2014. With Voces Intimae, he recorded 2 CDs dedicated to the trios of Robert & Clara Schumann, the first of which was with period instruments and was named Period Instruments Choice per BBC-Radio3 and CD of the month for Suonare news by A. Foletto. Again with Voces Intimae, he recorded a world-premiere CD of the piano trios of L.T. Gouvy in collaboration with the Palazzetto Bru-Zane, Centre de Musique Romantique française. The two CD recordings of the trios of J.N. Hummel released by Warner Classics were awarded Critics CD award in 2006 and CD of the week by BBC-Radio3, Choice of the Month by BBC Music Magazine and Cdécisif by Radio Suisse Romande. He also recorded four CDs  with the Italian label SYMPHONIA: the trios of Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Franz Schubert, reissued as a double CD by Pan Classics in 2012, a recording of unpublished 19th-century fantasies on arias by Bellini and the Brahms piano quartets all on period instruments. Riccardo Cecchetti also recorded two CDs for the Spanish label Verso on a modern piano in duo with oboist Eduardo Martinez.

Mr. Cecchetti  teaches chamber music and fortepiano at the Music School of Fiesole and holds piano, fortepiano and chamber music masterclasses in Italy, China, Spain and USA (Oberlin College).

He is artistic director and project creator of the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival in Lucca.
