Aglaia Tarantino

A classical solo and chamber music pianist, she has played and been regularly invited to play in the most prestigious associations and Italian music festivals as well as been regularly invited to perform internationally in prestigious concert halls in the UK, USA, Japan, Spain, Ireland, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Egypt, Switzerland, and the Middle East ..
Winner of many awards, national and international competitions such as: “Schubert Prize”, “Tortona Prize”, “City of Asti”, “Beltrami award”, “Ferrero award”, “Cilea award”, etc …
As a student at the Conservatory “G.Verdi” in Milan, she won a scholarship reserved for the best piano accompanist.
Official piano accompanist at the Royal Academy of Music in London during the years 2010-2015 (string department ) including classes and master classes of Maxim Vengerov, Nobuko Imai, Mario Brunello, William Bennett, Colin Carr, James Ehnes, Tasmin Little, Hartmut Rohde, Paul Silverthorne, Tatjana Masurenko, Lydia Mordkovitch, Conrad Muck, Atar Arad. She has also worked on different occasions at the Royal College of Music, Guildhall Music and Drama and Trinity College London.
Long collaboration for the chamber music and contemporary (LSO Soundhub) seasons with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican and St. Luke’s. Most of these concerts are available on YouTube.
Teacher and accompanist at “Ameropa” faculty and the Prague International Festival, Edward Said National Conservatory in Ramallah (Palestine), London Halcyon International School, Conservatory of Como, “University of London – Central School of Speech and Drama,” “The Theme music School “in London and at the music schools in Garbagnate and San Donato Milanese. In 2008, she was a lecturer at the “professional piano courses for the European Foundation, Theatre Politeama in Catanzaro.
Always interested in discovering and performing contemporary music, she has performed world premieres of composers like B. Moretti ( “Bestiary of the XXI Century”) and C. Galante ( “Four preludes to the Dionysus procession”) and collaborated as a guest artist with various contemporary ensembles, including the London Sinfonietta for some projects and with several international composers. At the Royal Academy of Music she has worked for several years with the composer Maxwell Davies at his composition class.
She has performed as soloist with the orchestras: Symphony Orchestra “G. Verdi” (dir. R. Polanstri), “Piccola Sinfonica di Milano” (dir. S.M Lucarelli), “G.B.Sammartini” orchestra (dir. F.Borali).
Long term piano partner with Paul Silverthorne (principal violist of the London Symphony Orchestra / London Sinfonietta), Lorenzo Iosco (first bass clarinet of the London Symphony Orchestra), Andrea Manco (principal flute of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Teatro Regio in Turin) .
Born in Milan, she graduated at the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Milan with the highest marks under the guidance of Maestro Vincenzo Balzani.
She also studied with Hans Fazzari, Vitaly Margulis and Dario de Rosa, Renato Zanettovich at the “Trio di Trieste” Chamber Music Academy in Duino.
In 2005 she won a scholarship for the Postgraduate studies in Piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music in London, with Clifton Benson and Ian Brown. During these years of studies she won the “Wilfred Parry Prize” (piano accompanist) and “M. A. Garrett Prize” (Brahms chamber music).
